DEVELOPMENT PROCESSBUILDING WITH A PURPOSE
WHERE IT ALL STARTS
Funding for new housing developments comes from various partners, including federal, provincial and municipal governments, housing foundations and health agencies.
Housing is designed to integrate well into neighbourhoods and is often purpose-built to allow for a variety of living options. From homes that are staffed 24 hours a day to independent apartments with varying levels of support, the housing is accessible and adaptable to a wide range of needs. Before beginning a new project, we consult on design features, including seeking input from service providers, current residences and health agencies.
After selecting a site, we obtain necessary approvals for the housing to be designed and built and work with funders to meet financial targets and to ensure design meets the needs of those who will live there.
Continuing attention is paid to making modernizations and improvements to existing buildings to address changing needs. Monitoring requirements associated with aging is especially important in order to provide a safe, secure place that people can call their permanent home.
